PREPAID BlackBerry users on the Celcom Axiata network can now stay connected via BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) for as low as RM0.50 sen a day by subscribing to Celcom Xpax newest prepaid plan.

The stand-alone subscription for unlimited BBM service, without activating the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) is the first of its kind offered by any operator in Asia Pacific.

A premium mobile-to-mobile social communica-tion platform, the BBM service is one of the device’s top features as it offer users instant connection and a host of features exclusive to the BlackBerry.

“We are very excited to be the first to bring this BBM plan as we understand the needs of our young customers who constantly need to be in touch with their friends, but at an affordable price,” said Celcom director (marketing) Zaenal Aefendy Zainal Abidin.

He said the BBM service was launched under the Xpax brand in a strategic move to expand Celcom’s presence in the youth segment, as well as to strengthen Celcom’s position as the country’s BlackBerry market leader.

“Mobile prepaid users are a huge untapped market and the numbers are constantly increasing. So it is important for Celcom to further our efforts and add more value to our BlackBerry prepaid plan,” he said during the plan’s launch at Menara Celcom recently.

He said the BBM plan also completed Celcom’s suite of existing prepaid BlackBerry plans – the BlackBerry Advance full package and the BlackBerry Social which catered to users who mainly used their device to access social networking platforms.
